Thursday, November 10, the Mayenne police stopped a motorist, at the toll of La Gravelle (Mayenne). The man, who was driving under the influence of drugs, was carrying nearly 5 kg of cannabis resin. He will be held in court on Monday.

On Thursday 10th November, the gendarmerie group of Mayenne had mobilized its staff across the department, to strengthen the fight against road accidents.

From 8am till 7pm without interruption, some 93 soldiers were engaged from all units of the group at 37 control points. As part of this mobilization, at 3pm at the toll station at Gravelle on the A81, the attention of the Laval police motorcyclists was drawn by a motorist acting suspiciously.

The man, who was heading to the UK and had the trappings of a drivier under the influence. His physical condition didn’t look correct and he was tested positive for driving under the influence of drugs.  He has actually consumed drugs before taking the wheel from the Paris region.  At the time he surrended initially 2.2 grams of cannabis resin, but upon a search of the vehicle by the military, they discovered a bag containing almost 5 kg of cannabis resin. The driver, aged 38 and resident in the Eure, was taken into custody and placed at the disposal of justice.

His driver’s license was also withdrawn and vehicle immobilized.

Prosecuted for driving under the influence of drugs, use, acquisition, transport, supply or sale of narcotics, he will be prosecuted on Monday with an immediate appearance in the court of Laval.
