An intervention of the security forces took place on Saturday afternoon in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The terrorist alert concerned the Church of Saint-Leu. After verification, the prefecture said “no danger was to report.” The population warning system had expressed a bomb alert. “As a precaution, the populations SAIP warning system was immediately activated,” said Bernard Cazeneuve.

The police conducted a speech on Saturday afternoon in the center of Paris. An intervention that has created a major stir, especially on social networks, amid terrorist threats in France. But after checking, the prefecture announced that no danger was to report.

Call

Shortly before 16h, the police received a call about a possible attack of Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles church, located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, between Saint-Denis Street and Boulevard of Sevastopol. The security forces then evacuated a wide area around the church.

The officers of the Brigade of Research and Intervention (BRI) had visited the site as part of the operation. The Saint-Denis, near the Place du Châtelet, in the center of the capital, had been cordoned the side of the Boulevard Sebastopol. The prefecture had recommended to avoid the area. According to several witnesses, bystanders were confined in the Les Halles shopping center, nearby.

False alert

At 4.14 pm, the warning system and information to populations (SAIP) is triggered. The application then shows “Paris, 1st district. Church. Warning attack “ .

But it was actually a false alarm. After verification, the prefecture said “no danger was to report”  a few minutes after the first message about the intervention.
