Near Lyon: The Police were Stunned when they Discovered the Driver’s Driving License

A young driver aged around twenty was arrested by the gendarmes in a small village north of Lyon. He was driving at full speed with a probationary license.

They did not expect to come across a driver with this type of license and with such road behavior… The gendarmes of the Villefranche-sur-Saône motorized brigade (Rhône) north of Lyon intercepted a young driver behaving dangerously on the 19th November while he was travelling on a departmental road in the commune of Les Chères.

The young man in his twenties had a probationary license.

The driver was traveling at 161 km/h (speed retained by the gendarmes of 152 km/h) while the speed is limited to 80 km/h on this axis. The soldiers found a driving offense more than 70 km/h above speed.

6-month suspension of driving license

“Faced with this significant speeding violation, the gendarmes immediately administratively withheld his license and an order suspending his driving license was issued for a period of six months”, informs the Rhône gendarmerie.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days according to prefectural directives.

With a probationary license, the number of points available is only six, remind the gendarmes. The offense results in a withdrawal of six points, the young motorist risks invalidity of the license upon receipt of the administrative decision, in addition to one fine of up to 750 euros.
