“Game of Thrones”: HBO extends “House of the Dragon” and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”

TELEVISION: HBO has announced the renewal of the two series in the Games of Thrones universe: “House of the Dragon” with two new seasons, and “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” with a season 2

“Winter is coming “. The cult phrase of the Stark family in Game of Thrones has not finished resonating in the heads of all fans of the license. Especially since the chain HBO announced the renewal of two series of the franchise created by the author Georges RR. Martin.

Since the creation of the cult series in 2011, the world of Game of Thrones only expanded. Its first spin-off, House of the Dragon enjoyed great success with fans of this medieval fantasy series with its first two seasons. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will be released on January 19 on HBO Max, is just as awaited by fans.

A fourth season for “House of the Dragon”

While the third season will only air this summer, HBO is counting on the success of House of the Dragon and announces a fourth season for 2028.

The series is the first spin-off of the franchise. The events take place 172 years before the birth of the heroes of Game of Thrones, like Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). From the book “Fire and Blood” by George RR. Martin, she recounts the two wars which led to the loss of the dragons held by House Targaryen, and led to the fall of the latter.

Its success is well established, with more than 10 million spectators for the premiere of season 1. A record for the HBO linear channel. The characters of Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon Targaryen, (Matt Smith), are therefore not about to disappear from the small screen.

Already a season 2 for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”

This shows how “Game of Thrones” is still one of the most popular series, even though it ended six years ago. Because HBO continues to capitalize on its success. Even though the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will not be released until January 19, 2026 on HBO Max, a second season has already been announced by the channel.

This spin-off, which takes place a hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of the knight Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Great, played by Peter Caffey and his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), inspired by the novels Tales of Dunk and Egg, by George RR. Martin, who let us remember, has still not finished writing Game of Thrones.

If these spin-offs have the right to a renewal, others, eagerly awaited, have been nipped in the bud by HBO. The most anticipated of these is surely the series Jon Snow, in which the actor Kit Harington was supposed to resume his role as ex-commander of the Night’s Watch (and ex-King of the North), who had gone beyond the Ice Wall.
