ORDERS: The online sales platform from Lidl is already accessible but not operational
After setting up online sales sites in Belgium, Poland and Spain, Lidl is preparing to launch its online sales platform. It will only be operational from May 23 but is already available in the “buy online” section of the German retailer‘s website. The device will also be available on smartphones via a mobile application, says Capital.
Delivery costs to be expected
Only non-food references can be purchased online and delivered to customers’ homes. The latter will have to pay a minimum of 4.99 euros for shipping costs. The shipping cost will actually depend on the size of the product. Among the categories of items sold on the Lidl site are clothing, DIY, sports, leisure and gardening equipment, and items for children and animals.
Furniture, multimedia devices, household equipment and beauty and care products can also be ordered on the hard discounter’s merchant site. The company relies heavily on its business in France, which is its second most important market after Germany. In France, the supermarket chain with some 1,500 physical stores has a market share of 8%.
