It is a classic weather episode in this season, always sudden, very spectacular and potentially dangerous. Saturday 21st September 2019, a stormy weather system began on the Mediterranean coast.
This episode will cause violent storms in the departments of Aude, Herault, Gard and Pyrenees-Orientales. Heavy rains are also expected in the East Tarn and south of Aveyron, as well as in Lozere.
Saturday morning, ten departments of Occitanie are placed in yellow or orange alert.
Hérault under close surveillance
Hérault, particularly affected department was placed e n orange alert storms and flooding rain. Rainfall totals considered are of the order of: 80 to 120 mm, locally 130 to 150 mm. Some urban runoff may be observed under the highest intensities, in vulnerable areas. The alert runs until Sunday, 6am.
The Lozère, the Eastern Pyrenees and Gard are placed in yellow alert for heavy rain storms and flooding.
Wind in Haute-Garonne
The Aveyron, Tarn, Ariège and Gers are placed in Yellow alert for storms for part of the day Saturday.
