New car registrations in France continued to rise, with an increase of 2.3% in April, announced the French Automobile Manufacturers (CCFA).
However, this increase was more moderate than in the first few months of 2015, as in the first quarter of 2015, the increase in new car registrations was in fact 6.9%, although at least it is still positive which is giving some confidence to the industry.
Renault better than PSA in April
In further detail, the Renault group gained market share last month and saw its registrations increase by 3.4% , while its French rival PSA Peugeot Citroen has seen its sales figures stall with just a 0.7% increase, said the CCFA in its monthly delivery statistics.
In the first four months of the year, PSA (+ 3.6%), continues to perform better than Renault (+ 3%), the shape of his Peugeot (+ 8.1%) that offset the quasi Citroën stability (-0.4%) and depression DS (-13.4%).
Renault, meanwhile, sees its growth boosted by registrations (+ 7.2% since the beginning of the year). Over the same period, the low cost brand Dacia, having made great progress in recent years, surprisingly fell by 9.8%.
