The claim has been admitted by Daesh. “The author of the attack of the Champs-Elysées in central Paris is Abu Yussef, ‘the Belgian’, and this is one of the Islamic State fighters,” wrote QAMA around 11.30pm, the propaganda organ of Daesh.

According to Rita Katz, director of the US group SITE, which monitors jihadist movement, the claim is “different” from the usual messages QAMA.
