Emmanuel Macron’s Televised Message Attracted 8.9 Million Viewers

Wednesday evening, Emmanuel Macron took his traditional vows on television. Some 8.9 million viewers watched them.
The traditional ones presidential wishes, delivered Wednesday 31st December 2025 at 8 pm. by Emmanuel Macron, attracted 8.9 million viewers, a lower figure than the previous year, according to Médiamétrie data published Thursday and analyzed by l’France-presse Agency (AFP).
Of these 8.9 million people, the vast majority – 7.8 million – looked at these wishes on TF1, France 2, France 3 and M6, indicates a press release from Mediamétrie. Other viewers listened to this ten-minute speech on one of four 24-hour news channels BFMTV, LCI, Franceinfo or CNews.
TF1 in the lead
With 3.15 million viewers, TF1 came first, ahead France 2 (2.86 million), M6 (1.23 million) and France 3 (523,000).
On December 31, 2024, these four channels attracted 8.8 million viewers. In 2024, Emmanuel Macron’s end-of-year speech was watched by 9.7 million viewers, down compared to 2023 (10.2 million).
