SWIMMING: A 3 year old child died, drowned, late Sunday afternoon in a private pool Lapeyrouse-Fossat, north of Toulouse in the Haute-Garonne

The firemen of the departmental fire and rescue service were called around 16:45, Sunday afternoon, for a drowning in a private pool of a house in Lapeyrouse-Fossat, north of Toulouse in the haute-Garonne.

Upon arrival, Samu’s doctors were also there. They tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate a 3-year-old boy, who had fallen by accident and had escaped the supervision of his parents.

Cause of death, accidental drowning

According to a study conducted by Public Health France – the National Institute of Health Surveillance , last summer, accidental drownings were responsible for nearly 1,000 deaths, making the first cause of death by accident of everyday life among the less 25 years old.

A rising figure that has not spared Occitania, the second region most affected by this plague. Last year, 256 drownings were recorded, of which 52 were followed by one death.
