The act 23 of the mobilisation of yellow vests was held in Toulouse this Saturday, April 20, 2019. While meeting had been given at the Capitol metro exit, it is finally at the level of Jean-Jaurès that the demonstrators met early in the afternoon, where they were joined by more than 200 motorcycles
Several thousand demonstrators
In a statement, the prefecture indicates that several thousand protesters participated in this act 23. According to a police source, they were a little over 4,000 at the height of the demonstration . The yellow vests did not communicate on a possible quantified estimate.
On the side of the police, the police and gendarmes were “reinforced by important complementary means ” in the words of the prefecture. In all, 540 people were mobilized in Toulouse.
Protesters pushed back to the canal, injured journalists
The first part of the demonstration took place in a relative calm, the first muscular exchanges between demonstrators and the police forces took place shortly after 16:30, at the war memorial and place Dupuy.

Protesters were pushed back to the Canal du Midi by the police. It was at this time that at least two journalists, including one from Actu Toulouse, were wounded by grenades deencclement . The journalist of Actu Toulouse was even deliberately targeted by tear gas, for no apparent reason.
Projectiles, fires, barricade attempt
In its provisional report published at 18:45, the prefecture reports:
Incidents that took place because of very hostile protesters , in different locations in Toulouse: projectile jets in the direction of law enforcement, a fire on public roads and an attempt to mount a barricade.
The prefecture reports two wounded in relative urgency.
