According to his daughter, the state of the former president is “not worrisome” …
Former President Jacques Chirac, 83, was hospitalized in Paris for a checkup. But his condition is “not worrying” according to his daughter, Claude Chirac.
“Feeling weakened in recent days, Jacques Chirac was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon to make a general check of its condition. It should stay in the hospital for a few days or a short week. His condition shows no concern, “said the youngest daughter of the former head of state. “His life is not in danger.”
Weakened
Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic from 1995 to 2007, was hospitalized several times since leaving the Elysee, which has fueled every time rumors about his health or his death. In December 2013, he had been hospitalized for a “kidney intervention” at La Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris. In February 2014, he was also briefly hospitalized at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine in the wake of “violent attack of gout.”
Known for decades for its health iron, he had known in September 2005 his first real trouble (stroke) and then had to be rushed to hospital at the Val de Grace. This condition had then weakened sharply.
Alzheimer?
In recent years, he feels more and more difficult to move even if it continues to go regularly in the offices of his foundation, close to the National Assembly.
In January 2014, his wife Bernadette Chirac had said thinking that her husband will never speak in public. He suffers from Alzheimer’s disease? “I honestly do not believe (…) He does not really have symptoms, but it is true that a small drop in his memory, especially at times it is very variable,” she had then indicated.
His last appearance in an official ceremony dates back to 21 November 2014. He then attended the annual awards ceremony of its foundation, during which President François Hollande had made him a glowing tribute. Weakened by illness, his hand on the shoulder of his bodyguard, Jacques Chirac arrived to the applause of the audience. This year, he was not present for the award ceremony.
