The interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, announced the banning of the sale of alcohol in sensitive areas.

The Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Sunday that a there will be a ban on alcohol sales in “sensitive areas” vigils and match days of the Euro, after denouncing the violence “unacceptable” that occurred yesterday in Marseille.  “I asked (prefects) to take all appropriate measures to prohibit sales of alcohol on match days and days of the opening of the fan zones in sensitive areas” .  The minister also added that “this measure will affect the public domain, local shops and authorised places of sale in case of takeaways. The prefects will also prohibit certain types of containers that could be used as projectiles ” .
