Harry Styles would have refused the role of Prince Eric in the live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid

A collaboration that falls in the water! Actor and singer Harry Styles, formerly One Direction, would have finally refused the role of Prince Eric in the live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, according to information from the American site TheWrap.

The remake of the classic Disney of 1989, itself inspired by Andersen’s tale, The Little Mermaid follows the adventures of Ariel, a mermaid falling in love with a human prince who trades his voice out of the ordinary against legs.


A mix of old and new songs

Halle Bailey will interpret the role of Ariel. The production has been entrusted to Rob Marshall, a regular at Disney productions, to whom one owes the return of Mary Poppins and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Fountain of Youth. At the writing, David Magee, the screenwriter of the Return of Mary Poppins.

The new version will include Alan Menken’s original songs, written by Howard Ashman of the animated classic of 1989, as well as new songs with Alan Menken’s music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
