Renewal of rent controls in 28 “tense areas” of France

The 28 tense zones, corresponding to 1,149 municipalities in Bordeaux, Grenoble, La Rochelle, Lyon, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Montpellier, Nice, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Nantes, Toulon, Annecy, Ajaccio and Bastia, Bayonne , Meaux, Menton, Saint-Nazaire, Sete, Thonon-les-Bains, Arles, Beauvais, Biarritz. Fréjus, Annemasse, Arcachon.

Note: in Lille and Paris, the same rules as in “tense areas” apply. In addition, the increase in rent is only possible in the case of a new lease, and it is limited to the variation of the rent reference index, and only if the rent is well below the market average or else after work has been done in the housing.

Increase in regulated gas tariffs

Regulated gas prices will increase slightly (+ 0.2% on average) on August 1st. In detail, the increase will be + 0.1% for gas for cooking, + 0.1% also for dual use cooking and hot water and finally + 0.2% for heating.



Decrease in regulated electricity rates

Regulated electricity tariffs are expected to fall by 0.5% for individuals, according to the recommendation of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

For small professionals, however, they should increase + 1.1%.

New decree on weapons (concerns hunters)

  • Disappearance of category D1 subject to registration: the weapons concerned (shotguns with 1 shot per smooth barrel) go into category C, subject to declaration.
  • Shotguns with a rifled barrel length less than 80 cm or a barrel less than 60 cm pass cat. B and can no longer be used by hunters.
  • Only new or used weapons sold by a professional (gunsmith or broker) can be delivered to the purchaser’s home.

The 7th, it will be the  end of the summer sales, except in the Pyrénées-Orientales and the Alpes-Maritimes where the sales period lasts until August 14, and in Corsica where it lasts until August 21.
