The weather was summery on Saturday: the hot weather has spread throughout the country with values from 33 ° C to 38 ° C. But since last night, thunderstorms have begun to invade the West. And it should last a few days. Meteo France placed the Southwest on orange alert for storms.
After the strong fever surge on our thermometers, the weather has started to turn stormy – and that’s just beginning. As a result of this beautiful week of sun and heat, the mercury has reached this weekend values close to the heat wave, the temperatures of the night struggling to return to freshness.
The Chaîne Météo had yesterday published a “special communiqué” on hot weather for 24 departments:
Le communiqué spécial est étendu à 24 départements pour de fortes #chaleurs sur le Centre-Est et l’ïle-de-France et pour de violents #orages attendus cette nuit près de l’Atlantique. https://t.co/u4eznEX6Tr pic.twitter.com/kWn70yivoZ

Last night, locally violent thunderstorms broke out in Aquitaine.
We saw hail locally, strong rain accumulations and strong gusts of wind, 80 to 100 km/h near the coast (locally a bit more), 60 to 80 km/h inland.
The stormy activity faded in the second half of the night.

This Sunday, in most of the country, the weather will be very hot. The heat will increase even a notch compared to the day before, especially in the Center and East where we will sometimes reach 36 to 37 degrees.
The Heatwave Orange Alert for the department of the Rhone is maintained until 4pm on Sunday.
On the sky side, the sun shines generously over a large part of the Hexagon, except in the morning on the west facade and on the Mediterranean coast. Some showers are triggered sometimes in the morning on Brittany and Pays de la Loire
During the day, the clouds are developing again on the western facade of the country leaving a few showers late afternoon.
Locally strong thunderstorms are expected at the end of the day on New Aquitaine with a risk of hail and strong gusts of wind. Meteo France has placed the region in orange vigilance.
Stormy cells will also appear on the east, the Jura and the northern Alps.
