The Italian Elia Viviani became Olympic champion in the omnium, the most comprehensive test track cycling on Monday at the Olympic Velodrome Rio Olympics.

Briton Mark Cavendish, medal for the first time in his career at the Olympics, took second ahead of defending champion, the Dane Lasse Hansen. The French Thomas Boudat was fifth.
