In memory of the liberation of Chateau-Gontier by Leclerc’s division, a Memorial has been installed in Frome square. It will be inaugurated on Sunday afternoon.
“The idea is to trace the route of the Leclerc armoured division in August 1944,” explained Vincent Saulnier, deputy mayor of Chateau-Gontier, in charge of managing projects, during the presentation of the memorial, a month ago, in the workshop of Jacky Renier, stonecutter.
