Thunderstorms: Eight North West Departments Placed on Orange Alert

In its latest warning bulletin, Meteo France reports that eight departments of the North West have been placed on orange alert for severe weather and thunderstorms.

Eight departments of Pays de la Loire , Normandy and Brittany were placed in orange vigilance for severe weather and thunderstorms. This is what Meteo France announced in its last warning bulletin at 4pm on Friday 8th June.

“Little mobile storms accompanied by heavy rain will affect the northwest until late Saturday morning,” wrote Meteo France in its newsletter.

The departments of Calvados , Orne , Manche , Sarthe , Maine-et-Loire , Mayenne , Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes-d’Armor are concerned.

A storm record continues

Thunderstorms continue in June after a record May, during which more than 157,000 lightning strikes were recorded.

These figures are unpublished since at least the year 2000 and the beginning of the censuses put in place by Meteo France.
