Christmas is coming ! The city of Le Havre is adorned for the occasion decorations and has prepared for its inhabitants a rich entertainment program, from Friday 1st December 2017.

Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) is preparing for the holidays! From Friday 1st December 2017, many activities are offered to children and adults to experience the magic of Christmas . A new exhibition was conceived in the town hall, and various appointments are available for one month, all over town.

A new Christmas story

Since 2000, an exhibition on the theme of Christmas transforms the city hall, carrying children in an enchanted universe. For this 2017 edition, it will be possible to discover, from Friday  1st December, Santa and the enchanted clock .

“There will be many more scenes, compared to usual, also more accurate and valuable, announces Jérôme The Bay City’s cultural department. Our challenge is to create wonder in children, as in adults. This is made possible thanks to the work of Mario Pitassi, our head carpenter.”

Sandrine Dunoyer, deputy mayor in charge of culture, said that this exhibition is “a real habit, and the subject of a great expectation from the public.”

For this edition, visitors will be treated to a journey in time and space.

Christmas illuminations.
For the end of 2017, the lights of the city will be the same as the previous year. 600,000 LEDs were installed in different neighborhoods and 100 masts illuminations, 6 km of power cables, 55 cabinets electrical controls 120 color filters on spotlights and chandeliers …

The unmissable

Among the major events of the festival program, the public will have the opportunity to find the best Christmas parties :

– The Christmas Village. Composed of forty chalets at the foot of the City Hall and the Big Wheel, the Village will offer, from 1st to 24th December, the traditional feast of products, food as decorations. One of the cottages will be reserved for local associations, which will be promoting their actions (Doctors without Borders, the smile of the children of the harbor, Kiwanis, etc.). Free entry.

– The great wheel. Until this Saturday 28th January on the steps of City Hall, the Ferris wheel will get high, and discover the city from a dizzying perspective. Single rate: 4 euros.

– The Christmas ice rink. For the second year, a skating rink moved up Perret, and will allow small and large to go skating on 500 square metres of real ice until Sunday, January 7th. Two catering cottages will open nearby. Prices: 7 euros per hour per adult, 7 euros per hour per child, skate rental included.

– Santa’s sleigh. Located on the square Saint-Michel, from 1 st December to 7 January it is for smaller, which can not go on the Ferris wheel. Single rate: 4 euros.

The White Parade, a must. 
Proposed by the festival committee and the City of Le Havre, White Parade is one of the highlights of the year end in the Ocean City, bringing together thousands of people in the streets.

The sound and light show will take place Sunday, December 17, from 5.30pm, leaving the streets of Paris, near the cathedral, for a tour of Commerce basin by Lamblardie docks, and George-V. Arrival around 7pm at Place du General de Gaulle.

Appointments around town




Plays for children, shows, concerts … many appointments will also be offered in different neighborhoods of the city, from the 1st December for the Christmas spirit is spreading everywhere.

Note particularly the presence of Musibus with the City “Vibrate Havre” public policy, which will be on the Christmas market from the 1st till the 23rd December, to offer musical entertainment, from 5pm to 7pm, and that a fleeting chorus who sing every Wednesday at 6pm.

Many rendezvous spot is provided in libraries and museums of the city, as well as shows, scheduled at the Theater of City Hall, or at Magic Mirrors. The complete program is to find on the internet .
