She is one of the little known personalities of the new government announced this Wednesday.  Under the authority of Nicolas Hulot, Minister of ecological transition , this woman bristling with degrees (Polytechnic School, National School of Bridges and Roads, College of Engineers) will be in charge of Transport. A position in line with her competences.

Long journey in ministries and public enterprises

Elizabeth Borne was the first woman to become prefect of the Poitou-Charentes region. Named by Francois Hollande, she only stayed a year. Before becoming until 2014 Ségolène Royal’s cabinet director at the Ministry of Ecology, herself a former president of the Poitou-Charentes region. An ecological hue that will help him to work with Nicolas Hulot, her minister. She has long experience of government departments and the public sector. A career started in 1987 at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the regional office of the Ile-de-France Equipment.

This Polytechnique was then advisor to the Ministry of Education with Jack Lang and Lionel Jospin, she followed when he became Prime Minister. In 2002, she became head of strategy of SNCF before joining Eiffage in 2007 as director of concessions. From 2008 to 2013, she was executive director of planning for mayor of Paris.

At the head of the RATP

Since May 2015, she led the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP). In this context it had to prepare for the competition in Ile-de-France for bus, tram and metro. She also wanted to bet a lot on the connected digital and mobility. Described as “very rigid” and management “not inclusive”, she is praised for her ability to work. The hot topics of which she will to care about is the replacement Nantes airport at  Notre-Dame-des-Landes and the development of the metropolis of Greater Paris.
