Planned since February, royal travel like a seduction operation to strengthen the Franco British relations, somewhat proven to cause Brexit. During this Parisian weekend, the couple will also meet with President Francois Hollande.

Reconnect relations after Brexit

Best ambassadors of the kingdom, Kate and William will launch the operation entitled “neighbors”. A Franco-British initiative to strengthen relations between the two countries, while Theresa May announced that it would trigger the end of March in Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. An act that will launch the process of withdrawal of the UK from the European Union and that will take two years of negotiations. This tour is a “crucial time for Britain, told The Express Philip Turle, British journalist at RFI. This Friday afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet Francois Hollande. Reunion between the royal couple and the French president, who seemed to have agreed perfectly. The trio appeared quite accomplice during the commemorations of the Battle of the Somme last summer.

“Francois Hollande will be perfect in the year”, told Madame Figaro  Stéphane Bern, the specialist in royalty. Not only because, as head of state, “he knows how, for five years,” but also because “his hometown and friendly side will work wonderfully. He always has a joke. ”

Couple will Watch Six Nations Match

Friday night, the royal couple will attend an official dinner given at the residence of the British ambassador, surrounded by handpicked guests. “The actors Jean Reno, Audrey Tautou and Kristin Scott Thomas, footballer Robert Pires, the Vendée Globe winner Armel Le Cléac’h and his British rival unfortunate, Alex Thomson and the winner of the Prix Goncourt writer Leila Slimani and the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo “should be present, according to Le Figaro .

This trip, set up by the British Foreign Office, “shows the solidarity between the UK and France in this difficult period,” said the  Parisian  ambassador of the United Kingdom, Lord Edward Llewellyn, alluding the terrorist threat.

The couple will then travel to the Stade de France, where he will meet François Hollande, to attend the rugby match between France and Wales, in the RBS Six Nations. Prince William will represent for the first time officially the Welsh Rugby Union, which he recently became the sponsor to replace his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

If the program of the visit provides for however no official commemoration of the death of Lady Diana, the memory of the princess however certainly hover on the journey of William in the French capital. At the time, he was barely 15, and his brother Harry 12 when his mother and her companion Dodi Al-Fayed died in a car accident after a chase with the paparazzi in the tunnel of Alma. As we approach the twentieth anniversary of the death of Diana, William and his wife come for the first time both in Paris.

A move which also marks the will of the princes and their father Charles, heir to the throne, to further assist Queen Elizabeth II, who turns 91 on the 21st April. The British tabloids, little known for their phlegm, criticized the little royal commitments provided by William, in comparison with the energy still deployed by his grandmother. Desiring to fully embrace his royal duties, Prince announced in January that he would abandon his work this summer as a helicopter rescue pilot to concentrate fully on his role of a prince. He, his wife Kate and their two children, George and Charlotte, so soon leave their home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk for their London residence of Kensington Palace. Now the royal couple should make many official visits across the globe. But if the date of their next move in France is not known, it is very likely the next tenant of the Elysee they should meet on that occasion.
